3. BALKAN VW BUS MEETING
4. -7. July 2013 Igneada/Kiklareli / TURKEY

After the first Balkan Meeting in Greece in 2011 and the second in Bulgaria, the VW BUS Clubs of three countries are organising the 3. BALKAN VW BUS MEETING in 2013 this time in Igneada / Turkey.
After many national and international meetings in the passt years and the relations between the Clubs, IGNEADA was choosen for this international organisation. A turkish riviera directly on the Black sea, near to greek and bulgarian borders, also on a easy-to-reach position for other european visitors, Igneada seems to be the perfect location.
It will be a co-work of different VW Clubs of Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria in order to get as many participant as possible.
We also would like to point on the natural beauty of the area and put a sign AGAINST the nuclear reactor planed in Igneada.
We will inform you further and answer your questions as the organistaion details appear.
I know it s along way from Finland to us, but, just in case, be informed !

Re: 3. Balkan VW Bus Meeting in Turkey 2013
There are a lot of VW clubs in turkey, just a couple of them are serious and experienced enough.
All of them got together to organise the balkan meeting, which already took place 2 times (in Greece and Bulgaria).
Leading forum is http://www.avd.org.tr/ which is mainly a Air-cooled VW site.
The idea was initiated in the last couple trips between these three countries and by new born friendships.
The forum that me and a couple of friends are running is the http://www.volkswagen-t3.com as the name says, mostly for T3s...
here are a couple of pictures of our meetings and weekend trips...
https://picasaweb.google.com/altanaustirol
so, here you go, now you are aware of a VW "existance" in Turkey too, which suprises a lot of europeans normally, but hey, thats why we love this VW culture, don t we?

278 VW's, 8 countires, 675 people ...
a 3 days event with succes, many happy faces and lots of promises for next year.
We have been celebrating the 3rd Balkan Bus meeting in Igneada / Turkey, a full VW event, packed with backgammon tournier, 50 m VW pulling, childrens corner, many ateliers, bicycle tours, stage performances, camp fire, jam sessions, sirtaki, belly dance, VW culture at it s best and lots of memories.
After the first meeting in Greece with 15 and the second in Bulgara with 35 vehicles, it s been an explosion of "get together event" of 278 VW's.
Imagine next years meeting, for which Romania already annouced to host !

Re: 3. Balkan VW Bus Meeting in Turkey 2013
After the Balkan meeting, we planned a North Aegean Trip with our forum www.volkswagen-t3.com and we were driving for 6 days around with on a convoi with more than 15 Vw's
On Sunday, after the meeting, a dozen of turkish VW's , a greek guy with T3, a couple from Vienna with their syncro, a croatian friend, a romanian couple with their 1969 T2, we hit the road towards our first stop, the DUPNISA caves.
The camping places we wanted to rest were shared at the beginning of the trip, so couple of us were able to skip the POI's (point of interest) and find us on the next stop so we could get together as a convoi again.
Tired from driving, we drove by a Winery named SUVLA and passed the Dardanelle to stop on a camping by sea. Couple of us skipped the Battlefields visit.
The next day, we drove to TROI national park and ruines. Brad Pitt was not around, understandable on 35 degrees in shadow !!!
We stopped bei Bozcaada Island, parked our cars and passed to the Island by ferry. We enjoyed the oktopus and other specialities of the island and went back to our VW to sleep. On next day, we drove 90 km to the south, passing by beautifull small village road, stopping by a olive oil and cottage cheese factory to fill our refrigirators
We stopped by the famous Apollon Smintheus temple too, of course...
Finally we arrived to ASSOS, where we planned to stay 2 days, lying around, eat, swimm and sing. We parked our vehicles in the shadow of the olive trees and get rested...
...and the water was irressistable
We organised a bus to bring us to the ASSOS ruins. We loved the view and the history of this sacred place.
Unfortunately our friends from Romania and Austria had to leave. We drove 12 VW's to south to CUNDA and visited couple of places on our way
last stop was Dikili, 50 more km to south.
It was time to say good bye. And hope for a better 2014 meeting

Re: 3. Balkan VW Bus Meeting in Turkey 2013
The meeting was for the first time in Turkey. Next year it will be in Romania
The trip is a traditional yearly trip of our forum http://www.volkswagen-t3.com where you can join also and communicate in english (i do the translation job)
If you are adventurous enough, plan your trip for 2014 with us, or at least to romania for the balkan meeting
